Eater launches monthly subscription wine club

Eater city-editors will partner directly with locally beloved wine experts, offering subscribers unparalleled access to a diverse set of industry insiders across the country

Vox Media today announced Eater Wine Club, a one-of-a-kind editorially curated monthly wine subscription offering wine lovers the ultimate experience to enjoy great wine, tap into their favorite local spots, and explore innovative wine programs from some of Eater’s favorite establishments around the country. Each month, an Eater city-site editor will partner with a wine expert––in one of Eater’s 23 domestic markets––to find out what’s trending and curate a monthly box to enjoy at home. The network is teaming up with wine eCommerce platform Mysa, to offer members a monthly box of two or four bottles, an exclusive newsletter, and access to a virtual wine party with that month’s curator.

“Eater has long celebrated future leaders of the restaurant world and our new wine club carries on that tradition by tapping some of our favorite emerging and established talents in the wine industry,” said Amanda Kludt, SVP and Editor-in-Chief of Eater. “We’ve developed a truly unique way to experience local trends and exciting wines no matter where you live. It’s the club we, at Eater, always wished we could join. so we built it ourselves.”

To launch the subscription, Eater will partner with Zwann Grays––the Beverage Director at Brooklyn’s Olmsted and Maison Yaki––who will curate the first month’s wine box for subscribers. Olmsted is a beloved Eater restaurant, one that’s been featured regularly on Eater’s lists and maps, including “The Best Meal of 2019” and “Essential Places to Drink Wine,” and Zwann has been celebrated for changing the way wine-lovers think and talk about wine. Upcoming months will feature expert Bianca Sanon, a Haitian-American somm, from Miami, who most recently worked as the Beverage Director and General Manager of the James Beard nominated Boia De, and Derrick Westbrook, who developed beverage programs at some of Chicago’s best restaurants––Alinea’s NEXT and Elizabeth––before opening up his own wine shop, 1340 Beer, Wines & Spirits.
